About Me

Dr. Christopher Bengson is a board-certified dermatologist whose career reflects a unique combination of clinical expertise, public health leadership, and dedication to underserved communities. Known for his thoughtful, patient-centered approach, Dr. Bengson is committed to providing comprehensive dermatologic care tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

Dr. Bengson earned his undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences with concentrations in Biology and Anthropology from Johns Hopkins University before completing his master’s degree in health policy at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Prior to pursuing medicine, he built an accomplished career in public health and healthcare consulting, working with organizations including The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and KPMG Consulting.

Driven by a passion for medicine and service, Dr. Bengson attended medical school at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, where he also completed advanced coursework in Emergency Military Medicine and Military Contingency Medicine. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine internship at Franklin Square Medical Center followed by his Dermatology residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bengson has remained deeply committed to improving dermatologic care for underserved populations, particularly within Native American communities. In recognition of his clinical leadership and national policy contributions, he has received three Outstanding Service Medals, including one for Valor, as well as the Indian Health Service Director’s Award for Clinical Health Leadership. He was also awarded the Distinguished Service Medal by the U.S. Public Health Service for exceptionally meritorious service and outstanding leadership in advancing public health as Chief Clinical Consultant for Dermatology for the Indian Health Service. In 2017, he was appointed the first Chief Clinical Consultant for Dermatology for the Indian Health Service, where he served three consecutive terms before retiring from 25 years on active duty.
